Description
“The eye is always caught by light, but shadows have more to say.”― Gregory Maguire
Inspiration
When I was young I was really afraid of the darkness and plants especially in the darkness. I saw them as tangled shadows. Still time to time I dream of swirls and tangles of shadows in different shades (especially when I am ill or have high fever) and that is what I wanted to capture. Originally I wanted to make more elaborate and add more and/or different details, but I think this swirly design of shadow fits the theme better and I think I have over designed it already...
Personal note
As you may have noticed the lines are a bit more wider and shakier then normal. It is because I still haven't given up to learn how draw with dip pen properly. Inking took ages as I have not really used to this kind of pen, but I kind of like it how the lines look, I just need to practice more with them.
Regarding coloring I wasn't really sure about this turquoise-petrol blue color at first, but had the gut feeling it would work (I usually don't like to work with green and turquoise as I can't handle these colors well...I guess...).
I tried to combine color pencil, ink and markers. More or less achieved the look I wanted, but there is still a lot to learn. Unfortunately in the process many of my markers died on me so I will have to put off some of my drawing until I can afford to buy new markers. Unfortunately the scanner "ate" my finer shades, tried to get it back with editing, but horribly failed. Well at least it was a lot of fun to draw and I am happy how the original looks
Media:
brause dip pen with nib 511, 66, 65 and talens indian ink, promarker, copic, homemade alcohol ink, various color pencils and loooveee

Beautiful colour choice and breathtaking in the feel of flow and dimension to it. It feels otherworldly, yet also an organic (like plants) or elemental feel (like flowing water).
