Prisoner Of The Mind by Namtia Prisoner Of The Mind by Namtia
"Monsters don't sleep under your bed, they live inside your head"
(source: s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/5… )

Inspiration
The original idea came from a book written about US presidents. Somehow I found this quote fascinating:
"Men are not prisoners of fate, but only prisoners of their own minds." (Franklin D. Roosevelt)

Personal notes

Completed version for now. I wasn't sure/I am still not sure what to do in the background. Finally I left it white, because I found the cage is too complicated already. I may retouch it again later on as  was not entirely satisfied with my available marker colors, and I couldn't afford to buy new ones.

Completing this took ages as I hadn't finished anything "big" in months, not to mention haven't used markers in awhile... So it was refreshing and in the same time really frustrating to make this picture, but I learned a lot again from this and as for now I am happy with the result (though I see lot of things to improve)

This year seems to be the year of the tendrils :XD: Beaware, it is really relaxing for me to draw them, so I will most probably draw a lot in the fututre, especially in exam periods.  ^^;

It's like being stuck in a cage with clouded vines tangling all over you like snakes that wrap themselves tight so as to never let you go.

Risen over the eather
An organic symphony
Bellowed from one to another
Roar together into a harmony

Beckons every bell
A wide whisper hastily spread
Over a gigantic chain and dumbbell
Over every ear it is heard

The deity is caged
she is into over her head
Poisoned and manged
She is distressed

First of all I wanted to congratulate you over the wide attraction your work got from different media outlets
I have only have been lately returned to being active at my facebook account and I have noticed the spread
your deviantion attracted from large media outlets

Secondly I like to thank you for being a muse to me

Thank you for your poem. I do enjoy them a lot! I am not a capable writer, so I value much who are good with words.

Well I had my 15 minutes of fame thanks to the daily deviations I recieved here on Deviantart.

Beautifully chaotic! I love the curly, swirly tendrils. It's literally a cage and I love it! Very creative ^_^

I keep coming back to this piece to look at it again...

I just noticed something that you may or may not have intended, but I see a symbol of birth...

naked, in a tight, almost fetal position, closed in a cage, but with an opening...  Not at all sure where I'm going with this, or if it was even something that entered your mind, but it is an interesting thread to pull on to see where it leads...

hmmmm...

Actually the opening part was intentional as I didn't wanted to have a fully closed cage (as she is not closed yet entirely)  and aesthetically it is also looks bettter, so I removed the 2 middle tendirls during the sketching process (though some parts are still there).

Now you mention it can be read that way as well. I like your way of interpretation as well. ;)

Very true.  I figured that aesthetically, you needed to leave the opening there so you could see the figure clearly.

Isn't that one of the beauties of art, that different people can experience the same piece of art, and connect to totally different aspects of it? ;-)

Originally I planned that her hair would turn into a cage. But in the process I changed my mind as I thought it would look better this way so I distinguished it with color.

This is an amazing picture and it really speaks to me. I love the whole atmosphere of the image and, in my opinion, it also reflects how a lot of people with mental health issues might often feel.

I am glad that you like this picture. It was a rather challenging one.
Indeed it can reflect  how a lot of people with mental health issues might feel. I friend of mine had/have depression and he said that this picture describes how he feels very often.
